Something's not right here.

The other day we were at a shoot and our first spot of the day involved filming a pretty big celebrity selling her reusable, earth-friendly shopping bag. As she talked about how many plastic bags could be saved and how everyone should do their part to keep the world beautiful, I looked around and thought about how much waste was being created in the making of this spot.

It was only 9:30 a.m. but the garbage can outside our little area was already full of bottles and cans and scripts that had been printed and tossed within three minutes. Sure, every person's job is unionized and set-up is done the easiest and most economical way possible, and consumption is at a high - must over-purchase everything so as not to anger the creatives! - but I just found it ironic that there we were, preaching about doing one simple thing (using a green grocery bag) and not one of the hundred people on the set made an effort to do something simple like put out a second garbage can with a recycle sign on it.

But I quickly abandoned this pondering, as I watched (and the men ogled) our starlet as she was whisked away in an Escalade.
